Are you fed-up with the problems running on your computer and trying to figure out their permanent solutions? With little technical skills, you can improve the performance of your PC and boost its speed so you can do more tasks in no time.
In this article, I am going to share with you some important tips to get a great experience while working on your PC.
Removing Temporary Files
Whenever you access certain files, folders or programs on your PC, their temporary files get stored on the Temp Folder. Such unnecessary files take extra space on your hard disk and create the slowness issue. To get rid of this situation, regularly delete temp files with “temp” and “%temp%” commands on Run command prompt. Also, delete other unnecessary files using “prefetch” command.
Scanning Your PC
There are many malicious programs that can attack your computer via the internet like virus, spyware, malware and Trojan. These can not only make your PC slow, but can also try to steal your personal information. Thus, it is better to remove them using any anti-virus. Online scanning software programs are also available that you do not need to download on your PC.
Freeing Your Hard Drive
To execute any program, it is necessary to have enough space in your hard drive. In case you have installed so many needless programs, it is better to remove them. Just check out the list of installed programs on “Control Panel”.
To improve the performance of your system, you can use Disk Defragmenter. It consolidates the fragmented files on your PC’s hard disk.
Check-Out the Infected Programs
If some of the programs that have installed on your system get infected, they can also create the slowness or hanging problem with other applications. Trace them and fix the problems, or you can uninstall and reinstall those programs.
Add Virtual Memory
Add-up some extra space to your RAM with the help of virtual memory to execute the applications/files/programs speedily. The steps to change the size of virtual memory are also very easy.
- Right click over “My Computer” on your desktop and select “Properties”
- Choose “Advanced system settings” option from the left hand side of the page
- A window will pop-up, choose “Advanced” button and then “Settings” in front of “Performance”
- Once again select “Advanced” option in the new pop-up and choose “Change”
- Customize the size (an increased RAM size) and click on “OK”
After performing the above steps, ensure that you restart the PC and check its performance.
