Harmful Effects of Pesticides to Body, Children, Pets, Hormone Disruption, Neurological

Pesticides lead to a number of bad health issues to not only humans but animals as well. Still the usage of pesticides in farming has been increasing over the years just to produce more quantity of food grains.

Time and again, scientists and social workers have been raised their voice against pesticide farming. Farmers knowingly or unknowingly use pesticides, but at the end people who consume the pesticides food grains suffer from various diseases including dangerous cancer. Though, pests affect a lot to crops, there are some organic fertilizers as well that cultivators can consider.

Some farmers have a wrong perception that they cannot grow the same quantity of yields without pesticides. But the reality is that organic farming is much better than pesticides to produce more and qualitative grains. Even organic farming can save plenty of money that farmers waste on costly pesticides.

It is important to know the bad effects of pesticides in farming so that people and their government can take strong actions against them and apply organic farming.


Effects of Pesticides to Body

As per the scientific researches, it has been found that pesticides have links with various diseases. Some of the diseases that occur due to pesticides include birth defects, cancer, infertility, nervous system, brain damage, stillbirth and related diseases to Parkinson.

In children cancers are very common including soft tissue sarcoma, leukemia, brain cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Similar types of cancers are seen in adults as well, with colon-rectal cancer, multiple myeloma, and other cancers of eye, breast, prostate, pancreas and bladder and kidney. Pesticides can also aggravate allergies and asthma. In eighth episode of Indian television show Satyamev Jayate, Aamir Khan showed a clear picture on this issue.

Effects of Pesticides to Children and Pets

Children are more susceptible than adults for pesticides. They take more breaths than adults per minute that also cause the diseases. The ability of children to degrade the bad effects of pesticides is also less because their immune system is not yet developed completely.

Pets can also get poison from one or the other ways. If the owners of dogs use any lawn care chemicals, their pets can get a special type of cancer namely canine malignant lymphoma.

Hormone Disruption Effects

Though, pesticides are causing physical birth defects, there are some hormonal effects too. Pesticides affect the functionality of children or their development of fetus. Disruptors are linked with various diseases including miscarriage and reproductive cancers. Some of the other problems caused by pesticides are endometriosis, hypospadias, undescended testicles, reduced sperm counts, precocious puberty in females and fertility problems.

Neurological Effects

Harmful pesticides can also influence neurotoxins. After getting exposed to neurotoxins, people may feel confused, unable to coordinate, lightheaded, dizzy or unable to think properly.
